How to Showcase Your Doll

What is the best way to Showcase my doll?

After spending the last two years in the doll community, I have made some observations that may be of interest to people wishing to Showcase their dolls. I am also interested in YOUR input and opinions on this subject.

There are GOOD ways and BAD ways to get a job done. You can use a spoon to dig a well, but there are better tools that will do the job a lot faster, and more efficiently.
The tools I am going to discuss here are BLOGS and FORUMS. Both have their strong points and both have their weak points. In a FORUM posts are topic focused, whereas in BLOGS, posts are member focused.

Forums excel when dealing with multiple subjects of discussion that are not necessarily related to each other. The topics are usually categorized by Boards and then threads. They are especially good for discussing topics which are of a current nature as the most current posts are given the focus by being placed on the top of the pile, thereby burying the older ones.
While this is a good thing for discussions it is counter productive to Showcasing. Because the posts are not linked and sorted by member, any hope of a linear diary to showcase your doll becomes lost to the visitor. So essentially, IN a topic based system a poster's doll is only as popular as her last post which then gets buried under someone elses'. Mind you, in a forum, you could simulate a BLOG by manually placing backward and forward links for your previous and next posts - which is done automatically in BLOGGING.

By posting your doll related stories and photos in a BLOG people viewing your Blog get everything you've posted about your doll and in chronological order. You essentially are writing your own book about your doll. Also the BLOG keeps other people's comments separate from your own story. Up until recent years forums and web pages were the only method available, but now BLOGS have become the NUMBER ONE method for showcasing one's life, hobby, events or in this case Dolls.

The easier you make it for the viewer to follow your story, the more likely they are to follow your story. Some doll owners have already realized the benefits of BLOGGING. In my opinion, if you want to SHOWCASE, BLOGGING just makes sense .
