Herman has cycled overland all the way from China, having been detained and tortured in North Korea, finally ending up in England where he's applying for asylum. He wanted to speak better English so he answered an advert for a job on a building site where learning English is part of the deal, and was shocked to find that he was the only applicant. With a video camera like that no wonder he was arrested in North Korea for having videoed the wrong things and held on charges of spying. He was thankful to escape.
