Hi CoverDoll.  I’m back for another fun episode cooking with Chef Toy-R-Cees…..and already in 2017, time has not been on my side.  The plan for today’s good eatin’ is featuring the fun and tasty warm treat (perfect for a winter’s day….Chili !!!)  Straight to business.  Basic ingredients are ground meat, onions, diced tomatoes (or you can use a can of tomato sauce), and chili powder.  That is really it for the most basic of chili.

  Of course, you can also lots of great extra ingredients such as:  beans—-all kinds can work:  red kidney, light kidney, pinto, black  (warning…..these make some diners a bit gas-ey!)  Beans can actually replace the ground beef entirely, if you want to make your chili of the vegetarian variety.

Also vegetables like corn, zuccini, green peppers, mushrooms….etc.

Chili is great for those cold winter months because it is so easy, satisfying, warming, and if cooked right, it can make your whole house smell yummy.  Did I mention it was easy?  Basically, everything gets put into a big pan, and is slowly cooked while stirred up, flipped over, spooned and simmered.

Get enough ingredients, and a big enough pan, and you can make enough to have chili for lunch for two weeks.  Or to feed a small army.  It can be eaten straight out of the pan (or bowl), spread onto hotdogs…..or my favorite way…..with lots of saltine crackers.

Some people like to make their chili extra spicy with peppers, hot spices.  You can add just about any hot sauce.  Now I don’t dare put more than 1 or 2 drops of this stuff in my chili,

….and while a warning might be warranted since some of these hot sauces are insanely burning to the tongue  [might tip the hat right off of your head]…. ****….a challenge note…..some girls are turned on by the guy who can handle any 5 alarm chili.  Chili burn might even be transferable.  {OK……producer is giving me the wrap it up motions}

Tune in next month for a special February surprise.  Keep those cards and letters coming.  And remember:  …..the kitchen can be the funnest room in the house!!     Enjoy the heat……………………mmmmmmm……XO!!!
