Slut Phobia.

Body:

It's a well known double standard. Women are more often than not labelled 'Sluts' for being sexually liberal while promiscuous men receive admiration and kudos.

Documentary film maker Sunny Bergman globetrots from San Francisco to Amsterdam with her portable confession tent-chamber to speak with passers-by about sex. The intimate set-up of air mattress and camera works a Freudian treat as people readily reveal eyebrow-raising details about their sexual experiences, fantasies and anxieties. Typical of the guys thoughts "If she has slept with more than 10 guys she's a Slut, if 35, oh boy that is disgusting". One can only ponder 'Why is it so"?

Many women feel pressured into restraining their sexual activities for fear of being labeled a ‘slut’. Simultaneously, many men, especially in their younger years, feel pressured to have as much sex as possible and with the most desirable mates (read: attractive females) as possible.

In addition, men (or should I say ‘boys’?) are often expected to lose their virginity as quickly as possible. Whether this potentially unlimited supply of sex is a privilege or a burden is a matter of perspective. What matters here is that regardless of gender, anyone has at times felt insecure or pressured about his or her sexual life; there is a constant anxiety that yours does not fit the standards of society. In a rather generalised way, the current situation resembles this:

Promiscuous:     Male = Good (Stud)        Female = Bad (Slut)

Reserved:          Male = Bad (Loser)         Female = Good (Chaste)

Notwithstanding the 'sexual revolution' of the last half century Bergman found most women coy in admitting multiple partners while the men were eager to claim "too many to remember".

My guess is that most women still have evolutionary lingering concerns about the consequences such as the burden of children, their marriage prospects and STD's while men, despite living in a patriarchal global world culture, are actually quite insecure and possessive by nature.

Frankly, us men should be grateful for all the 'sluts' in the world - for giving so much joy and pleasure -, rename them 'Wonder Women' and be a lot less concerned about the size of our penises and concentrate on returning the favour (the joy and the pleasure that is) with interest!

Another big topic cut down to the bare bones and, I admit, I have plagiarised content from other sources.

It's such a double standard that it makes me crazy just thinking about it. Male insecurity perhaps? Stupidity most probably. Honsetly its not something I concern myself withand I'm not someone who lives by the rules of others.

Love the colour coordination Adora, very hot. Rock on!

Great blog my friend and so true. In this day and age I think it's time we looked more to all in the same light, no matter if male or female.

I've personally never been the guy that slept around a lot, nor have I patted the back of those that did, male or female. I have found females more responsible in this, manly because they bring their mistakes home, unlike us guys.

I say, "have fun, but be careful and always think of others and their feelings."
