Photographic Props and Gear

Body:

Hi folks,

This month I am going to go over some props you may want to get that great studio shot. Have a look at getting a backdrop hanging kit, a cloth/fabric/muslin, or paper backdrop and some hanging clamps.

Have a look at amazon.com for these things. They are very inexpensive, but go a long way to getting better lighting and authentic pictures.

Below is a great little kit for hanging props and backdrops. Check these out!

This one is collapsible and can be placed in your trunk of your car!

And a nice backdrop for your pictures, There are many different ones out there, I generally use light colors and sometimes black. Refrain from green unless you're doing video and chroma subtract. The green will bleed like crazy and we call it color irradiance or color bleed onto your model, and casts a greenish hue which looks horrible!

Also, try to get the larger 12X9 foot version. Sometimes smaller ones are ok for smaller dolls.

Next, buy some clamps to hold the backdrop and your props can hang from wires suspended by these clamps.

They are very useful, and generally tough to go without these. Buy 12.

Next, you can get a complete kit if you wish - just don't get the green screen version. LIghting and all is included!

Set up your studio like I have with many props from Joannes, Michaels, Aaron Bro's etc.. These stores are great because they have lots of things you can see in person.

You can also go to other stores like Lowes which also have holiday stuff on sale. Try to buy after the holiday!

The chair below was bought from amazon.com, and the fabrics from Joannes.

Here's the end result. Not so bad!

There's a bit of work done in photoshop, but you get the idea!

Enjoy,

Mishka
