It’s Spring CoverDollians.  Time to throw off the winter shackles, and enjoy some warm weather activities.  Our focus here in the kitchen this month is everyone’s favorite Easter time activity.

I mean, every girl’s favorite……….Outside of SEX!   Today……we will review the fun of making Easter Eggs.

Now, a trusted source once said that Easter is simple. “Color eggs, hide eggs, and find eggs!”  Toss in a few chocolate bunnies, some jelly beans, and a nugget pecan treat…..and…….well…..let’s just say she’ll be ready for anything!!

Easter eggs start off as simple boiled eggs,  You can do it old school with your watch, but remember…..to do things right, you really don’t want the water to be truly boiling.  If the water is really boiling, there is a fair chance some of the eggs will crack.

You’ll need an egg coloring kit.  They usually come with the dye drops that you can put into cups.  In many cases, you’ll also need some vinegar and water.  Read the specific directions for whatever kit you buy.  For the kit we used, the pink coloring did not need the vinegar…..but all the other colors did.

Coloring the boiled eggs is half of the fun.  You might want to have any children in the house do the heavy lifting of this part.  Coloring eggs really is as simple as putting the egg(s) into the desired color’s cup (you’ll need a cup for each color).  Some kits have the cups included.  In the really old school days, we used coffee cups!

Many kits also come with a wax crayon.  If you draw an image on the side of a boiled egg, the dye will not stick to that wax….so the image will show as the background of the egg takes on it’s color. (You might see a bit of an image on the blue egg….but note, neither Foxy or me is much of an egg artist).

Then, the venture continues outside the kitchen.  You hide the eggs for the searchers to find them!

Make a mental note of exactly how many eggs are going into hiding (and where they were hidden).  A forgotten hidden egg will eventually show itself, but the results are not pretty.

Join me again next month for more cooking fun.  Keep those cards, letters, and comments coming.  Enjoy the heat…………mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

From all of us, to all of you…….Happy Easter CoverDoll.
