Mole Mischief

Ohh, before I forget.... This blog comes with a ‘part-2’. Yeah, something similar like my last year’s Christmas blog. So make sure to check this blog in let’s say... a week or two. You do not want to miss the conclusion, right?! wink

Indeed, I promised you this blog to be about Christmas and about Kayla.  And indeed this is just the opening line, so there is no reason not to keep my promise. I could just simply start writing my report about upcoming Christmas and Kayla. But I fear that is not going to happen. Not that there is not enough to tell. In fact the opposite! During the last few months Dibby, Koen and I have taken Kayla to our famous city Zoo, our National Open Air Museum, which was not as crowded with dolls as the zoo, but it was a real treat to visit, as it happened to be an exceptionally beautiful day in the fall. And last, which was actually first, we took Kayla with us to the International Fair for Dolls and Bears, where we had a booth and for which we had arranged for her to promote the book of her sister Chloë. And sure there is enough to tell about each of these events to fill a number of blogs as we have made lots of photos, which indeed are not very much Christmas related, but what the heck! But.... (there is ALWAYS a ‘but’. Sighh!).... but thing is that, next to the temporary addition of Kayla, our family ‘recently’ have been expanded by a couple of newbees that Koen thought necessary to create for the fair. And they caused a story that I really need to put down in words here.

The newbees are not real ScoonimDolls  Of course not! You cannot possibly create a couple of new ScoonimDolls for a fair that is two weeks later. Get real! No, they are sisters of PH04, who, as you all surely remember........ AS YOU ALL SURELY REMEMBER....... Ok, anyone of you that does not have a clue who PH04 is, or PH, as we used to call her until recently, or Padima, as she was recently renamed by Isabel, who is a very dear Facebook friend of mine, but really must learn not to drop names in my family without consulting me first!.... Anyway, you better now take a quick look at my February blog of 2017, while I deliberately unintentionally will turn my head away, so you will not see my utter disappointment in you for not knowing who PH04 is.

So, are we all now up to date again?.... What?? - Huh??? - No???? You missed my special mark that I added to her name? The one that led to the note at bottom of my article, mentioning that PH04 (now known as Padima...sighh!) is a Scoonimhead doll?......  No, indeed my note did not mention ‘Scoonimhead doll’, but if you recall the information about dolls in my new website..... You did take a look at my new website, right?!..... www.Stellai-Shop.com does ring a bell, right?.... What?? - Huh??? - No???? You did NOT see my fantastic-new-webshop-where-you-instantly-should-have-bought-my-extraordinary-quirky-and-lovable-must-have-book ‘Rosaleintje’? Which, by the way, is still possible to get and would also be a stunningly good idea, if not for yourself, or for another doll, then for buying off your disgrace and guilt towards me.    Ohh, and when you do, please remember to write a review. Thank you!

Ok. Let’s get back on track. I was telling you about PH’s (Padima, or perhaps just ‘Padi’... PH is still chewing on this) sisters, who we created for the fair.... Hmm, that is not entirely correct, because Boots was specially created for Isabel.

Boots (aka Anaya)

Boots is the tough looking Scoonimhead doll with the brown hair that we specially created for Isabel. Everyone loves the name I gave her, Boots, which, by the way, wasn’t that hard to come up with, when you look at the size of her foot-replacement-and-lower-leg-protection-devices. Did I say ´everyone´?.... Ok, except for my doll renaming friend Isabel................sighh!!!................. So she now is called............... Anaya!................. Great name, Anaya,.... very feminine.... not as tough as ‘Boots’ of course.... also a teeny-weeny bit less fitting to her person as ‘Boots’ I think..... especially when you wear boots like Boots..... but sure, in some distant time-frame dimension it will make perfect sense that, when you have boots like Boots, you are called ‘Anaya’.

Nona (aka Nona)

And then there is Nona, short for Nonamy, which obviously is a simple variation on ‘No Name’, as Scoonimhead dolls are not given permanent names by us. (Wanna know why? Do NOT ask me. -> Ask Koen!). Anyway, Nona is still Nona as Isabel thought it to be a decent name for her.... What a relief!

Nona is the like-a-teenager-looking Scoonimhead doll with the blond hair and sneaker feet. She also has two pair of bare feet, but since she is more the teenager-with-sneakers type of doll, I think you will not see her very often wearing her bare feet.

PH (aka PH04, Padima and/or perhaps ‘Padi’, though that has not yet been decided)

And unless you need to get yourself a new set of eyes, I trust you have noticed that the redhead doll in the photos is not me. That doll is Padima (aka PH04 etcerera, etcetera). I won’t blame you if you did not instantly recognize her, as Koen bought her an outfit specially for the fair..... Yeah, you can do the math, for almost two years she has been running around the office here, wearing nothing more than just a pair of old nylons and a piece of completely worn out teeny-weeny size tantalizing underwear.... If you feel a very much justified urge popping up to fiercely comment on this, then please do give in to it and -> direct it to Koen! devil

How it all started

I trust you have watched the photos. The question you now need to ask yourself it this: “What on earth gave these Scoonimhead dolls the idea that Anaya’s face needed to be (re-)painted?” ....

Ahh, that is where my friend Isabel comes in.... again! You see, Boots (aka Anaya) has been created by us to live with Isabel on her tropical island. And so Isabel had a saying in what Boots (or Anaya if you happen to prefer that name) was going to look like. Isabel’s requests in this were nothing special, that is, except for the eyes. Isabel wanted us to make her a Scoonimhead doll with Arabic-shaped eyes, but that is not really possible, as this requires fixed upper eyelids. Though in every other respect I think we did a great job. But... (like I told you, there is ALWAYS a ‘but’.).... but when we send Isabel the photos she thought something was still missing in the face. Something like.... extra eye-liner?...No... Bigger irises?.... Maybe.... Vampire teeth?.... No... A monobrow?.... Definitely NO!.... Freckles?....Hmm, a mole!!

Mole

(according to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Now this is just a small selection of meanings given to the word ‘mole’. To see the entire list you need visit Wiki.

After two weeks of deliberation, frustration and miscommunication it turned out that  the mole Isabel was thinking about was nothing more than a tiny dot of brown ink on Anaya’s* left-side cheek.

* Isabel fiercely refuses to call Boots ‘Boots’ as she is the type of dashingly handsome tropical island doll that standard come with a lot of feminine temperament. Ohh, and just so you know, I happen to be looking for a suitable male styled doll companion for Isabel. Something like that male style acting doll Michiel Huisman. So if you are a male doll made by the same dollmaker as Michiel, or happen to look like him, then please let me know! winkyes

Just a bit of ink

Adding a  tiny dot of ink on a cheek. Hey, not a problem, how hard can it be!  This is the type of task I even dare to delegate to our guinea pig dolls to see it through. So I asked our newbee Nona to take care of Isabel´s request…. Ok,  I should have asked the guinea pigs.

Here ends part-1. Please come back to watch and read the conclusion in a week or two (or less if you read this blog already last week wink)

Mole Mischief - Part -2

A stupid law

Such a pity that laws has to be obeyed. Of course there are a lot of laws that make sense and are very useful, but the obligation to obey laws as such is questionable. For example: I tend to believe that, if that doll called Murphy would not have come up with this stupid law of his, a lot of mischief (if not any!) would never have taken place. It goes without saying that I warmly embrace the idea of skipping, or at least rewriting this law. And having a reputation of bending rules myself, I would love to be of assistance to any doll qualified and experienced in law writing to see this through, as I think you will do ALL of dollkind a HUGE favour by rewriting this so called Murhpy’s Law. So if any of you happen to be a lawyer and would be interested to see your name turn up in history books together with images of heroic statues of yourself, then please send me a PM, for I will have some really good suggestions.

Until then, well, I will just have deal with my cumulatingly catastrophic and/or catastrophically cumulating problems the old fashioned way.... sighh.

If it wasn’t for Isabel....

Sure I like a good joke. If it wasn’t for the fact that Boots was to leave the next day to live with Isabel, I agree that what happened here was rather hilarious. And with a little change of costume I would have turned Boots into a terrific assistant for Sinterklaas (not to be mistaken by Santa Claus, who is a completely different doll), as nowadays his black faced assistants are being sacked and replaced by dolls with white faces, smudged with streaks of black facial paint. So, if it wasn’t for Isabel....

Whispering dolls beware!

Any doll whispering is guilty by default. I am not sure if this isn’t already a saying, but if not, put it on my account. Of course I realize that whispering does not always mean that whisperers are sharing secrets that indicate they are guilty of something, but they sure are guilty of the peculiar shiver that creeps on my spine, caused by the feeling of suspicion they cause by whispering. And for that, whispering dolls are guilty by default.

All’s well

No pictures of Christmas trees, no Christmas balls, no garlands and no fake snow. Such a pity! This will be my first year without a proper ScoonimDoll Christmas card photo, for you will all agree with me that the photo below will not do, not by a mile. Though I have to say that I personally like this shitty snapshot as a Christmas photo, as it represents my favourite idea of Christmas, which is being in harmony at the end of the year, enjoying together the satisfaction of a job well done. For we were all relieved when it appeared that the ink on Anaya’s face turned out to be water-based and really was very easy to wipe off because of the silicone skin. Having a silicone head really does have advantages. But to secure color marks on it you need to seal the ink, which fortunately had not been done yet when I arrived. The sealing I entrusted to Dibby and I have to say that Dibs did a great job on this. She is starting to become a real assistant.

As for Nona, I made a slight misjudgement, but my newest pupil is very eager to learn, so I have no doubt that in time she will become a topnotch Scoonimhead doll.

I am concerned about PH, because she was the elder Scoonimhead doll, but did nothing to prevent what happened. PH really is a very kind and gentle and lovable doll, but she doesn't think things through. I think it might be a good idea to ask Kayla if PH can join her when she will be leaving us, as travelling will likely help PH to develop herself. But for this I will have to talk to PH first to make this ends well.

As for Kayla, it really is a pity that she soon will be gone. I have become very fond of her and she and Dibs have become really good friends. Koen even offered her to stay with us, but our workshop is not a place to stay for a doll like Kayla. She will however be stuck with us for a little while longer, as is has not yet been decided where she will go next. So if any of you would like to give temporary shelter to a very well mannered, Asian looking, lightweight giant size DS foam doll and a lovely and very elegant looking Scoonimhead doll, then please let me know.
