All about Kateryna & Vera.. The Doll: Today, I highlight two incredible dolls: Kateryna, a custom order Zelex 170 and Vera, a Zelex 172 SLE. Together, we are absolutely thrilled to be featured in this month’s Coverdoll. These girls are such perfect muses! Kateryna is strikingly realistic with a fantastic presence that translates so well through photography. Vera, though also astonishingly detailed, has a life-size toy fashion doll feel/ Her accentuated curves, outsized breasts, and fantasy figure make her a true doll lover’s doll. To me their best attribute is that they both feel exquisitely expressive – ready and able to capture those small moments in which I breathe a little life into them in the snap of a shutter. The Shoot: Most of solo shots were taken with a simple backdrop and a few inexpensive LED studio lights on some basic lightweight tripods. For their more intimate shoot, Kateryna and Vera are bathed in natural light. I like thinking through little stories in my shoots, taking pleasure in seeing where they lead.
The Gear: I typically shoot with a prosumer grade Nikon mirrorless body and a 25-35 mm prime lens, for those more expedient shots, an iPhone. I enjoy shooting in Nikon’s RAW format as it provides plenty of creative control over the final products during editing. I’ll typically turn to the Apple Photos app or Adobe’s RAW file tools before completing a few final edits in Photoshop. Even after more than 9 years and hundreds of shoots, and thousands of photographs, I love that there is always so much more to learn and perfect. Thanks to you all for the inspiration! Photo shoots must meet a minimum quality level. If you do not meet that level we are happy to work with you, critique your photos and help you to raise the bar on your photography. Good photo shoots can be had with low cost digital cameras. It is all in the technique.
