The Gift Of Pleasure.

What do you do when given a gift, a present, a part of you which gives pure Pleasure? The answer seems obvious ..... Enjoy it of course.

The Clitoris.

It's sole purpose is pleasure and all female mammals have one, birds and insects too. Researching the subject opens a Pandora's box of encyclopaedic insights, a multitude of tangential offshoots, and complexities of such an infinite variety it is difficult to 'pick the bones' in a very short blog, but here goes:

It seems the Clitoris, as an instrument of pleasure, has little to do with reproduction per se - except perhaps for males 

Yep you read that right. You see (speaking in human terms as opposed to Elephants, Rabbits or fruit flies) in the initial embryonic stage we are created female with all the essential organs and parts, including a clitoris. It is only after around 6 - 8 weeks that the male making Y chromosome kicks in to change a few things to start forming a male. In which case the Clitoris elongates, incorporates the urethra, attaches other bits and becomes a Penis.

So the base model from which we are formed is female. if you believe god made  'man' in it's own image - She is, in fact, a Goddess. **

Anyway I digress down one of the tangential offshoots.

The reproductive imperative for the Clitoris being pleasurably sensitive seems very limited. Consider:

Most men cannot find it or, if they can, bother to give it the attention it deserves. The shape, size and length of the penis has not evolved for clitoral stimulation at all, indeed a large penis seems more suited to 'scrubbing out' any competing sperm and some animals penises have evolved specifically to do just that. Deep Penile penetration barely stimulates it (The vagina is designed to receive the penis and, as we mentioned once before long ago, is highly insensitive). Even if it does the briefness of actual copulation and insemination renders any short feeling of pleasure almost pointless. About 80% of women fail to get enough stimulation of pleasure to achieve orgasm with just penis insertion and thrusting alone, assuming it last's long enough. 75% of women fake orgasm - which is a polite way of saying "Finish, Pull Out, F**k Off" - and 20% don't even bother to fake it. For many women intercourse is uncomfortable, if not painful. Some heartless, cruel, dishonourable male dominated cultures actually cut out the clitoris. Yet, notwithstanding, the population is sustained and growing. to Animals (or click on Animals at the menu) for just a very few examples, there are hundreds - for fun and recreation and it is unlikely they are thinking purely of procreating at the time.

We are not saying the act of intercourse is not pleasurable or fun, just that the pure pleasure factor provided by the Clitoris is not a reproductive imperative and evolution seems to have given it other uses.

Scientific research is scarce and undecided at this time as to why. We have a couple (out of many) of possibilities. The sharing of pleasure aids in the bonding process & peaceful coexistence of a species, including pairing mates - a trait we humans seem to have lost long ago in favour of aggression. And as a Yin of pleasure to contrast a Yang of pain, for without knowing pleasure how can a body know pain & and protect itself from it.

With the spotted Hyena in Africa - whose clitoris has evolved large - lower females lick the clitoris of higher females to show submission. Males also lick the clitoris of females in a show of submission. Females do not lick the penis of Males. The lowest female is higher than the highest male. So, in their case, the Clitoris & it's pleasure is associated with the social order of the pack.

 So guys & gals. You have been given a gift. Don't waste it.
