Meet Kira

The Doll:

Kira is a Zelex 175 body with both The GE109-1 Solid Head with implanted brown hair and the GE14-1 soft head with moveable mouth that I use various wigs on. Kira is a fun girl and enjoys games, Reading and watching movies.. She loves to change up her look and has been seen in gothic looks , gamer looks and working class girl looks and much more .. Kira loves holidays and enjoyed dressing up for Halloween. Kira is loads of fun and is perfect girlfriend material.

The Shoot:

These shots are from about three or four photo shoots I did with Kira. They showcase how she enjoys dressing up and changing her looks . There are a few of her gothic looks , A few gamer looks and even when she likes to do paper work she sometimes dresses up as a business woman and wears glasses.. All of the shoots took place here at the house and I hope you enjoy the photos..

The Gear:

I use quite a bit of photo gear but not all of it for every shoot. Depending on the shoot and the look I am going for will depend on what gear I use. Below I will post a list of the basic type of gear I have and if you want to know exactly what gear I used for each of these shoots you can ask and ill let you know :).

Camera: Fujifilm GFX 50S.. I enjoy vintage lenses and use various fully manual medium format lenses. Most of the photos in this posting used a 75mm F2.8 Medium Format Lens shot at around F4, ISO 100. All of the camera settings are fully manual including aperture , shutter, ISO and manual focusing. No AI based software was used in these shoots and all backgrounds are natural on location backgrounds.

Lights: I have many types of lights but most of the time I use Neewer Lighting products.. I have a field monitor from them I sometimes use if I want to preview the images on a larger screen. I have a couple of soft boxes with remotes that I can change the tints of the lighting (I often use those as room fill). I have some really small led panels I cant remember the brand that I sometimes use .. I have a strobe system that I almost always point away from the girls and use a refelective umbrella. (This is my keylight).

Tripod: I almost always use a tripod when doing inside shoots and have various tripods .. My favorite tripods are often video style tripods that have handles on them and include a flip over style base plate for quickly changing from Landscape to Portrait mode.. I have a ball head type tripod and the work flow just felt very slow and cumbersome messing with the ball to get it how I want for the shot.

Stands: If the shots have the girls standing that require support or suspending I use Coeros stands and if I ever needed any other standing products they have tons of options that are fantastic for doll photography.

I think that covers about everything.

I hope you enjoy the photos and thanks for having me be part of the Coverdoll series.

Note from the Editor: Each month we will feature a different photographer's work. We invite doll owners and manufacturers alike to participate in this new monthly feature. Photo shoots must meet a minimum quality level. If you do not meet that level we are happy to work with you, critique your photos and help you to raise the bar on your photography. Good photo shoots can be had with low cost digital cameras. It is all in the technique.

Fantastic shoot John! I especially love Kira's gamer outfit. I'm sure it's a distraction tactic... I'd be crashing constantly if I was playing with her!
