The Coverdoll movie riddle game #18

Body:

Those pics are snapshots taken from a famous
movie. If you guess the name of the movie, please post your answer. The game will end when the good answer has been found. If not sure, give it a try, no punishment expected in case of wrong answer ;) .

(clic the pic for more resolution)

The doll in second pic is Everhard's Virginia

One more pic or hint to come if too difficult

Comments

Hi guys, here's a new game. Of course i know this first pic is difficult to associate to only one film ;) But the pic is an accurate symbol of the movie.

It's just a beginning.... more to come.

Cheers

The scene depicted is reminiscent of several in movies where the 'heroes' look across the River Styx to Hades. The tower or fortress and size of the island tends to discount this idea.

And the boat is more Viking like rather than that of the 'Ferryman'.

The eyes in the sky suggest involvement of a goddess, spirit or demon.

I am thinking some medieval fantasy. And assuming the eyes are not photoshopped additions by Elle of some doll which Elle usually likes to include the movie is fairly recent (last 10 years) because of the quality.

As the game has been going only a few hours we will send pm to Elle with a guess so as not to spoil it for others - but of course we could be totally wrong.

Hi Muzza,

no Styx, no Viking :)

The eyes are AD's eyes and because i did not find a big pic of Lubov's eyes, i used Anoushka's eyes ;)
But the eyes are here only to add an element of a doll to the pic. Associating the eyes to the title of the movie could appear as a bit "faked" ;)

suspens, suspens :jawdrop:

I forgot to log out.

OK so not my first guess. Will sleep on it.

Thanks Elle,

Now we know the eyes are Anoushka's and not part of the movie (you did that very well), the fortress is not some fantasy Island and the boat is not Viking like we can further consider.

The first photo is not unlike Urquhart Castle at Loch Ness but the land it is on does not fit. (We have in fact identified the Castle but not going to give that away to other players at the moment).

The second pic shows a scene from inside a Castle. Still medievalsh - with Viiginia time travelling to the past Smile

A quick google, et voila, all is revealed. Clue to other players - What happened last week!

i must admit being totally amazed with the good analysis Muzza did (he sent me a PM with the answer and why he guessed).
Even with his analysis i think the answer is still not easy to find...

And yes his clue is right : the second pic represents what happened last week ;) But be careful we are the May 5... This clue will be wrong next week because you will think to Bin Laden...etc ... etc...

Ok i think the honor of Great Britain is at stake ! Kharn absolutly needs to find the answer :)

I will post a link at TDF to see if they're good ;)

Cheers,
Jihan & Elle

So this is set around the 5th century in Britain and it's a comedy?

Well only one film comes to mind and I'll send you a PM with my guess ;)

Just for information to anyone interested.

The key to solving this Elle movie riddle, having established by a first wrong guess that it was not a medieval fantasy movie with special effects - such as Beowulf, was

If the castle in the first photo is a real place then it is most unusual as it is on a small mound in the middle of some water, a lake or sea shore. The castle in the second photo also seems real rather than some cardboard set. They may not be the same, just different movie set locations.

So google 'castles in movies' and you get (among others)

http://medievalcastles.stormthecastle.com/essays/medieval-castles-in-movies.htm

A check through the Castles listed finds Doune Castle and mention of Monty Python and the holy Grail - but also others. A google of Doune Castle and one sees at

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doune_Castle a photo with the exact same well in the courtyard as in Elle's second photo. Mention is also made of Monty Python and the holy Grail.

So we are now 90% sure of the movie.

A quick google of the movie Monty Python and the holy Grail and at

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_Python_and_the_Holy_Grail one finds mention of a Castle Stalker as one of the movie set locations.

Google 'Castle Stalker' and at

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_Stalker there we find the castle of Elle's first photo and another mention of the Monty Python movie.

So now we are 99.9% sure of the movie. But just to be 100% sure google monty Python and the holy grail at You-tube and you will find film clips of the wedding scene of the second photo and of the final movie ending of the first photo.

Aaaarrrggghhh

So now you know how, next time, if there is a next time, how about giving it a go.

hugs and kisses

Thanks Muzza :) Some great info for everyone there. I wonder what Elle will come up with next :)

very clever thought and great search ! ;)

Yes that courtyard was special but a bit of luck is sometimes necessary ;)

../..

Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Mrs. Foxy took me to see the musical version of this on stage:  SPAMALOT!  a few years ago.

It is the funniest musical I have ever seen and one of my all time favorites.  Colorful and sexy.

Thanks Elle!
