Los Angeles is known for the unusual and out of the ordinary. In any given weekend you can see all sorts of things on the streets of LA/Hollywood. The weekend of August 25th through the 28th was no different. With the Exxxotica convention in town, it was the perfect opportunity for a bunch of love doll owners to show off their dolls and get to interact with each other.

It started out with seven humans, five TeddyBabes and three RealDolls. For those who are not familiar with TeddyBabes, TeddyBabes are like human shaped teddy bears, hence the name "TeddyBabes." The more widely known RealDolls are life sized, anatomically correct silicone dolls. RealDoll has a doll star as "Bianca" in the mainstream movie "Lars And The Real Girl."

For the doll owners present, Friday started out with a three hour traffic filled drive from Hollywood to San Marcos. San Marcos is the home of Abyss Creations, the company that makes Real Doll. When they arrived, they were treated to snacks, wine, a goodie bag and Matt McMullen, the founder of Abyss creator of RealDoll. A hand full of dolls adorned the Abyss lobby. The tour of Abyss took approximately an hour and a half. While there, they got to see the molds and various processes each doll goes through, from their molding to makeup.

Saturday brought another interesting day with morning photo shoots of the TeddyBabes. Then it was off to Ruby13. Don at Ruby13 was a gracious host. He showed us a new doll he had created, an ebony-skinned African American doll.

Saturday night brought out the dolls and their owners to the Sheraton Hotel in downtown LA for the premiere of the well anticipated documentary "All Dolled Up." "All Dolled Up" is the creation of TDF (The Doll Forum) and CoverDoll co-owner midiman. He has an international distribution contract for his documentary, despite having his local Nova Scotia film festival turn him down.

What’s a trip to LA during Exxxotica without actually going to Exxxotica? The TDF members attended the convention in doll enthusiast style. They cruised the exhibit hall with a Wicked RealDoll version of Wicked Pictures adult film star, Jessica Drake. They also had a life sized TeddyBabe version of her, which they planned on presenting to the actress. As luck would have it, Jessica was out sick that day. However, the TDF crew did get to roll the five foot, nine inch tall silicone likeness of the starlet around on a rolling stand. People gave many reactions to the doll, all positive. Even adult film legend Ron Jeremy took the time to examine Jessica Drake’s doll. Because of the unusual sight of a life size doll at a porn convention, it got the attention of G4TV. G4TV interviewed midiman, the doll's owner.

The whole experience gave midiman many ideas and much potential footage for his next documentary. In all, The Doll Forum’s first LA meet and greet was considered a success according to its coordinator and attendees.
