November - And the garden of Eden

As some of you enjoyed our last blog & the 'Messages from the Pulpit', we thought we would follow up with some light hearted commentary of a biblical nature. Admittedly the little anecdotes only make sense if one knows the stories from the bible and the nuances of the English language. If you don't, never mind, just enjoy the photos. So what theme could we come up with? Well, Nony as Eve in the garden of eden seemed appropriate.

Some young children were tested on their knowledge of Bible stories. Here are some extracts of their answers (with spelling mistakes left in).

1. Adam and Eve were created from an Apple Tree.

2. The first commandment was when Eve told Adam to eat the apple.

3. In the book of Guinessis, God got tired of creating the world so he took the Sabbeth off.

4. Noah's wife was called 'Joan of Arc'. Noah built an Arc and the animals came on in pears.

5. Lots wife was a pillar of salt by day and a ball of fire during the night.

6. The Jews were a proud people and throughout history they had trouble with unsympathetic Genitals.

7. Moses led the Jews to the Red Sea where they made unleavened bread which is bread without any ingredients.

8. The Egyptians were all drowned in the dessert. Afterwards Moses went up to Mount Cyanide to get the ten commandments.

9. The seventh commandment is thou shalt not admit adultery.

10. The greatest miracle in the bible is when Joshua told his son to stand still and he obeyed him.

11. Solomon, a son of David, had 300 wives and 700 porcupines.

12. The people who followed the Lord were called the 12 decibels.

13. The epistles were the wives of the apostals.

14. St Paul cavorted to Christianity. He preached holy acrimony which is another name for marriage.

15 Christians have only one spouse. This is called monotany.

A minister was accustomed to reading his sermons from his notes which he placed on the pulpit about half an hour before the church service. One naughty young member noted this habit and one day, before the congregation arrived, removed the last page from his notes.

The minister read his sermon as usual. The last line on what was now the last page had these words "So Adam said to Eve" -

Turning over the page there was of course now no final page . The minister gained time by repeating "So Adam said to Eve" ..... and then in a low voice he muttered to himself, but on which the amplifying system carried loud and clear to every part of the church, "There seams to be a leaf missing"
