Midiman has made an excellent doll video. You can view the trailers at these links:

All Dolled Up!

In this Video, Midiman is trying to show doll owners as something other than what the media usually portrays them as: A single guy out of touch with reality and no connection to the real world at all. Think “Lars and the Realgirl”. In case you have not seen the flick, Lars and the Realgirl is about a man having a real relationship with a doll as if she was a real person. As time passes, Lars begins to introduce Bianca as his girlfriend to his co-workers and various townspeople. Due to their care and concern for Lars, everyone treats Bianca as a real person, and she soon finds herself involved in volunteer programs, getting a makeover from the local beautician, and working part-time as a model in a clothing store. Due to their acceptance of Bianca, Lars soon finds himself interacting more with people. During this time a girl that likes Lars has begun to date another co-worker, which over time begins to seemingly bother Lars - a hopeless man who has to buy a doll to feel normal about himself.

Many people - if you ask what they think about a guy owning a realistic silicone doll – well, they say “pretty creepy – I saw Lars and the RealGirl and these guys need to be locked up. Heck, and I’d rather see him use hookers – yes they can give you STDs but at least he’s talking to a person and not to a piece of silicone. He is having a relationship with a person – and that is better than a relationship with a doll anytime.”

Here’s another example of what people think about doll owners:
“Guys and Dolls” is a documentary about the men who use sophisticated life-size dolls for sexual satisfaction and more – such as dates, affection and lifelong companionship. Featuring a young American man who gives his doll daily massages in the home he shares with his disapproving Mum and Dad; a British man who takes his doll out on day trips to the coast where she watches him hang- glide; and two Americans who live with multiple dolls, one of whom shares his eight synthetic lovers with his human girlfriend. Sounds like some good clean fun! Seriously, this is pretty strange and makes me feel much better about the Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan 25th Anniversary U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 16-inch Starship I just bought. “

When I read reviews like this - images of “Lars and the
Realgirl” come to mind to represent all doll owners. Some people thankfully are
more compassionate:\

“I watched the video Guys and Dolls the other night. Wow,
it’s quite a topic. I appreciated how well they selected their subjects. You
had the whole range of personality types — the guys who stereotypically seem to
be losers and can’t find women to love them; the guys that appear to have it
together but sadly never find someone, and as a result seem to be bitter; the
guys who only want the hassle-free sex; and the guy who appears to have a
genuine loving relationship with a doll.”

Now, I found Midiman’s video to be fun to watch and quite
funny at times. Very nicely produced with a warmth and my heart really skipped
a beat while watching the video.

If you want to see a positive view of doll ownership and the
men who buy the dolls, watch Midiman’s video. I did and I enjoyed it – I hope
everyone who has seen “Guys and Dolls” and “Lars and the Realgirl” see this
side of the coin and realize that you can be normal and own a doll.

Comments

Thanks for the video Midiman - niced to see doll owners in a positive light.

I will post a comment to Kharn and see if he can fix the article to show all of the text.

All done. We had a vested interest ;)  Thank you for a kind interview.

I'm a real doll...and I know it!

i hope Midiman is involved with friendly french speaking QUEBECOIS, to produce the documentary in french (even using their special accent ;) ) ; so that i will be able to enjoy 100% of the doc :)

Anyway, great review

H Dollyforme :)

Sorry about the article but that was all I got :( . If you remember you asked me to disregarded the first one and just use the second one you sent, which I did. For some reason it only had the text that I posted.

Well it is certainly hitting the CD page in one form or another.
We know many non doll persons whose relationships are far more weird.

I watched all of G&D and most of All Dolled Up (great title!), and I think Midi's documentary is more real(doll)world.  G&D includes sensationalist little digs at doll owners.  Those that I remember without watching it again are (1) dwelling on the lube bottle in a doll owner's shower, (2) a doll repairman saying "I'm out of vaginas" --obviously scripted -- and (3) the doll owner whose girlfriend tries to be nice but eventually finds it creepy and leaves him -- but in real life she wasn't his girl friend, the filmmakers set the poor guy up, and basically they lied.  Then there's Davecat.  We know he's OK, but his eccentric appearance can send already-small minds into Negative Land.  Everhard's section was the most normal, and I identified with him.

Despite the occasional negative spin, G&D got me interested in dolls, and I eventually ordered Paula.  (Photos by Stacy and Incrediwagon helped me make my final decision.)   If I had seen All Dolled Up instead, I would have had an even better image of adult dolls, and I would have ordered even sooner.  Midiman plays a very normal investigative reporter who doesn't take sides, he just shows the doll culture in a matter-of-fact way.  The doll owners speak of their passions, which are as normal as any human passions.  What could be more convincing.
