A Christmas Card - and some Paraprosdokians.

While playing around with some PS features (randomly selecting and clicking various menus and settings, as is our wont) we got an image that we felt looked vaguely 'Christmas Card' ish. As we kept no record of the steps, clicks and settings we cannot exactly say how it was done. Never mind. Here is Wishing you All a Happy Christmas and the Very Best for the New Year.

And to finish our year of blogging we thought you might enjoy some Paraprosdokians. (Yes, we know - it is not in our dictionary either).

" A paraprosdokian is a figure os speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected in a way that causes the reader or listener to re-frame or re-interpret the first part". So here are 12 examples (why 12? well symbolising the 12 days of Christmas of course, or rather, we should say the 12-day festival of Yule, which predates Christmas but was progressively taken over and modified by Christianity). I have broken up the sentences so you can easily identify the two parts. Feel free to join in with some of your own, there are so many - comedians and satirists love using them).

I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my Grandfather ....... not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

Do not argue with an idiot ....... he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Light travels faster than sound ....... This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit ....... Wisdom is not putting it in a Fruit Salad.

To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism ....... stealing from many is Research.

Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of capture ....... they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

To be sure of hitting the 'Target' ....... Shoot first and then call whatever you hit the 'Target'.

Behind every successful man is his Woman ....... Behind the fall of a successful man is usually another Woman.

Evening News is where they begin with "Good Evening" ........ and then proceed to tell you why it isn't.

I asked God for a bike, but I know God does not work that way ....... so I stole a bike and asked God for forgiveness.

Going to Church does not make you a good person ....... anymore than standing in a Garage makes you a good car.

She really loves her husband ....... especially when he goes away on long business trips.
