Summer Alps Vacation with Stellai

This photo shoot was taken on the premisis of a small camping park in the French Alps where Koen and his wife and daughters spent their  summer holiday.  Photographing Stellai gives Koen great pleasure. After some discussion Koen's wife agreed to his taking Stellai camping as long as it was not work and he would 'instruct' his daugthers in photography.  Koen's youngest has a natural talent for photoghaphy.

Koen's outfit for photography is a Canon Powershot and tripod, which shows that photography is more about talent than equipment.  Mind you he also has a talent for editing his photos using Photopaint.

Koen remarked, "Focussing my Powershot on such a small object as Stellai is quite difficult and the small volume, but large range zoomlens, eats a lot of light.  However, taking pics of dolls this size provides a nice challenge and gives new perspective of the world to a  photographer.  Standard backgrounds with houses, cars and trees suddenly do not fit anymore unless they are really far away. The lovely flower bed in which Stellai is sunbathing was chopped off by a lawn mower minutes after I took the pics. It was apparently a weed, but Stellai and I thought they were pretty enough to preserve forever in a photograph."

One thing that especially connects Koen with Stellai is the fact that he created her.  Stellai's design allows Koen to breath life into the doll. with his camera.  Unlike other brands of dolls available on the market , Scoonim dolls are much more flexible.  Stellai's face can be adjusted to create all kinds of expressions. Her skeleton is very flexible. She is poseable enough to adapt to mostly any position a human female can assume. Even her breasts can be adjusted.  Mind you adjusting the face on  a 30 centimeter doll is delicate work and even harder with the other camping guests watching over your shoulder.

During his holiday, Koen did several photo shoots and decided to share one with the readers of CoverDoll.  We are glad he did and honoured to have Stellai in a photo shoot at Coverdoll.  She is simply gorgeous.

Koen is now making about 12 dolls per year and offereing them for sale at ScoonimDolls.com.  These dolls are not love dolls,. They are highly detailed pieces of art by a true artist and artisan all in one.  If you have an interest in acquiring what is likley the most poseable and realistic looking 1/6th scale doll on the market you will need 1800 to 3000 Euros depending on your options  Getting your name added to the ScoonimDolls waiting list is free.

As a matter of fact I just added my name to the list. I should never have gotten Bianca started in collecting miniature dolls. There goes my new set of shocks and tires for my roadster ;)

Thanks Koen, from all of us at CoverDoll and TDF.

Note from the Editor: Each
month we will feature a different photographer's work. We invite doll
owners and manufacturers alike to participate in this new monthly
feature. Photo shoots must meet a minimum quality level. If you do not
meet that level we are happy to work with you, critique your photos and
help you to raise the bar on your photography. Good photo shoots can be
had with low cost digital cameras. It is all in the technique.

Incredible work, both photographic and art, to create and showcase such a small but lovely doll.

Congratulations Koen.

very interesting ! the whole nature is possible for photography of that doll :jawdrop: Just the size of accessories is a limitation.

Now there's one doll that kinda makes me wish I was also 30 cm tall!

Thoroughly excellent -- doll and surroundings. Amazing!

Great pictures! What a beautiful doll, so realistic, so detailed  8)
