Feeling Young.

Body:

There is a saying (Groucho Marx or W C Fields? who elaborated on a theme) which goes "You are only as old as the woman you are feeling". I tend to agree and don't doubt that our 'Silens Consortia' help to, at the very least, stem the tide of ageing and keep us young at heart.

Speaking of ageing,  this month I officially become an old age pensioner or, as is more PC, a Senior Citizen. So what can I look forward to?

Question: What are the days of the week?            .........................       6 Saturdays and 1 Sunday.

Question: When is a seniors bedtime?                  .........................       Three hours after falling asleep on the couch.

Question: How many seniors to change a light bulb       .................       Only one, but it might take all day.

Question: What is the biggest gripe of retirees?    ........................        There is not enough time to get everything done.

Question: Why don't retirees mind being called Seniors? ..................     The term comes with a 10% discount.

Question: What do Seniors call a long lunch?             ....................       Normal.

Question: What is the best way to describe retirement?   ................      A never ending coffee / tea break - spiked.

Question: What is the big advantage of going back to school as a retiree? ........... If you cut classes, no one calls your parents.

Question: Among Seniors what is considered formal attire? .........      Tied shoes.

Question: Why do retirees count pennies? .....................      They are the only ones who have the time.

Feeling the need to do some exercise I joined a fitness club and do the aerobics class as a senior. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour.         But by the time I got my leotards on, the class was over!

Know how to prevent sagging? Just eat till the wrinkles fill out.

You don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing.

PS: Actually there is a somewhat sombre feeling in the household this month as the aftermath of the catastrophic Bundaberg floods is revealed.  So many are now homeless and have lost literally everything. Our little community will take years to recover. We are so grateful we did not go under the devastating muddy, sludgy waters and are doing what we can to help at the evacuation centres.
