This month, award winning photo journalist Benitaoctavia shares one of her special European photo shoots with us.  Benita has been a member of DollForum.com for over two years and attended meets in both the UK and USA.  She refuses to compromise truth for sensationalism as so many publishers insist on. Here photos therefore accurately reflect our community.  She has hopes to haev a gallery showing when she finishes her series.

About the Photographer

Benita
is a professional photo journalist. She has been photographing dolls and
doll owners for some time. She was at the 2011 UK Doll Meet and she did
shoots with Kharn and Everhard. Her photos were shown at a Copenhagen
exhibition.

Right
now her main project is shooting dolls. The photos presented here were
taken during a visit at Nescio50’s place. During two afternoons she took
almost five hundred photos. Mostly of Lily and Sacha (4Woods). Some of
Eveshka and Yalena (Anatomical Doll). She tries to create photos showing
real humans – at first sight. But her photos feature dolls, sometimes
interacting with humans.

Benita is using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera and several lenses such as an EF35mm f/1.4L USM and an EF50mm f/1.4 USM.

Benita
is planning to do more doll shoots. She was at the US Doll Meet earlier
this month and she’ll visit the UK Doll Meet later this year. Some of
her pictures may be published in main stream papers and there might be
an exhibition.

Thanks, Benita for sharing this creative professional looking photo shoot.

Note from the Editor: Each month we will feature a
different photographer's work. We invite doll owners and manufacturers
alike to participate in this new monthly feature. Photo shoots must meet
a minimum quality level. If you do not meet that level we are happy to
work with you, critique your photos and help you to raise the bar on
your photography. Good photo shoots can be had with low cost digital
cameras. It is all in the technique.

A really nice article on a great photo journalist. I've had the pleasure of meeting Benita back in 2012. She's a very ethical and dedicated journalist, with a passionate interest in her work.

After she had met with us all the first year, she asked permission to show photos of us to be displayed in a photographic exhibition that she was working on. She later informed me that her photo of Alektra (Wicked Realdoll), my family and myself was now now hanging in the gallery and she had won first prize 8)

Way to go girl and I can't wait to see you again at the UK/European meet again in October this year :) :) :)

CoverDoll Publisher To err is human to forgive divine.

Thanks for allowing me to view these intimate moments... lovely.

So great to meet her at Hershey!Smile

It was so much fun working with Benita doing this shoot :)

She made so many great pictures, it was hard to select a subset for CoverDoll.  I think the photos presented here give a good impression of her work, showing dolls in natural situations.

To Benita, I really hope this project of yours will be successful an you will have your exhibition. I'm sure this will put a new, positive light onto the doll community.

I'm looking forward to meet you again during the UK/European Doll Meet next October 8)
