Sex Time.

Thinking about Sex? Often? Every seven seconds? Unlikely, that is an unsubstantiated urban myth. We do think about sex a lot however, either directly or indirectly. There is no 'norm', as we are all different, and it does depend somewhat on circumstances - but the median figures are around 25 times a day for men and about half that for women. And all this thinking for a few minutes of pleasure, which is not shared as much as is often perceived  - the average is less than once a week across a range of couples of varying circumstance and age (so if you are getting your rocks off once a day, spare a thought for the other fella seeing the inside only once a month or less). The median time to orgasm & ejaculate on penetration is 2 - 3 minutes for men and 10 - 20 minutes for women (if at all). Such a difference? But wait - when masturbating, the median time to orgasm for women is just 3 - 4 minutes, with finish. Not so different after all!

As many a lady has said .....
"My man suffers from premature ejaculation. It really gets on my tits when he pulls out so soon". Yet recent studies show men and women generally take the same amount of time to become sexually aroused (engorged genitals) generally peaking within 10 minutes. Dancing, close, body to body, to a slow waltz, embarrassed, and trying to keep my 'excitement' to myself - hell, I was bought up with the bullshit that nice girls don't!

So called 'premature ejaculation' is a common sexual issue for men being, basically, ejaculation sooner than his partner would want. Many solutions, not least being practice and lots of it. The difference I guess is that men are usually mentally ready or at least 'needy' for penetration long before a woman is.

The shorter response time of men to orgasm & ejaculate compared to women? - well I haven't been able to find conclusive rationale for that yet. Still looking.

The time of a typical orgasm for men is 4 seconds and double that at 8 seconds for women with more powerful and widespread contractions. Not surprising really considering the clitoris is the only organ of the body whose sole function is pleasure, it is twice a sensitive as the penis, capable of offering multiple orgasms and often with no refractory period (the time it takes for men to recover from one orgasm to the next) necessary.

With the similarities, and indeed, the superiority of women's sexual response, potentially, it begs the question why women need, as a general rule, lots of foreplay to achieve complete satisfaction? The inefficiency of penile-vaginal intercourse from a woman's perspective for one, and perhaps, maybe,  women have evolved to gauge the sensitivity, love and adoration towards them to assess the nurture credentials and staying power of the potential father of her child?

What is foreplay? The bit before sex that some men seem to have a little trouble with? Nope, it's the loving before shoving, the petting before getting, the licking before pricking, the stroking before poking, the lingering and the fingering .....
