Mishka's Studio - April Time for Easter and being indoors

Body:

April has brought rains and seeing spring flowers sounds like something I can only see from my window. We are doing our part to stay indoors and work from home. Yet it's still possible to do photography any time.

So for this month, I went ahead and worked on my JM silicone Doll Jasmyn, and tightened an assortment of joints so she could stand again. I also put a new silicone head from another vendor and did a few pictures with her.

The lighting for these was rather simple, and I used natural light from a adjacent window and a side light aimed upward so she would have less shadows shown. Then a Godox strobe unit was used to get the final exposure. The Godox was aimed at the ceiling so as to gain even lighting.

The camera was on a tripod as I needed good focus and in some cases had it hand held. I set most of the F-stops to be around F4-5 and shutter speeds in the low 1/10's sec. In most of the pics I used a 'zoom' around 75mm and really prefer that to the 28mm which in portrait mode, provides a lot of distortion to faces and needs to be corrected post. The 75mm is a sweet spot and I may even start to use lenses slightly longer like 75-135mm. I also discovered that the wide open setting of 2.8 provides undesirable effects, and that is why many photographers use F4-F5 which use the best sharp focus.

Anyway, enjoy the pics.
