Hello and welcome to this months issue of Doll News Monthly.
So about three months ago we checked out some interesting new hand designs from a company.
Well this month we check out yet another innovative articulated hand structure from the Jiusheng Doll Factory.
The Jiusheng Doll Factory has redesinged there articulated hands so they are much more flexible and bend in many more directions then that of most other standard articulated hands on the market..
I think its always a great idea when fingers and hands can move in more directions and acheive more poses with increased range of motions.
The Jiusheng Doll Factory has done just this so I asked them to explain a bit about there new hand structure and this is what they had to say.
At Jiusheng Doll Factory, we have developed an innovative finger bone design, setting ourselves apart from the industry standard. Our new finger bone, known as DFF (Durable Flexible Fingers), is engineered to enhance the experience for all doll owners.
The DFF features two key characteristics: **durability** and **flexibility**. Unlike traditional finger bones, our design eliminates limit stops, allowing for a greater range of motion and more dynamic poses.
The most significant difference between the new and old finger bones lies in the connection between the palm and the fingers. The previous version utilized a welded connection without screws, resulting in a rigid linkage. In contrast, the new design incorporates a screw-lock mechanism before welding, which significantly reduces the risk of breakage. This new finger bone maintains flexibility, allowing for gentle bending and movement (though we advise against extreme use due to the potential for metal fatigue).
Additionally, the DFF features laser-cut holes at the finger joints. This design improvement ensures that the silicone material completely bonds with the finger bones during the molding process, preventing any slipping of the metal within the silicone. This innovation eliminates the need for the old flocking technique, resulting in thicker silicone areas within the doll’s hands.
We believe the DFF will greatly benefit all doll enthusiasts, offering a more durable and versatile solution for their creations.
So after reading there information I have to say I was quite interested in the new design and asked them for some photos of the hands and maybe a link to a video of these hands being used..
Below are some photos of the hands being posed .
As you can see some of the fingers are actually extended past where most dolls hands would have stoppers on the joints or palm plates stopping the fingers from bending one direction or the other.
This gives much more flexibility and allows for some very realistic hand poses.
Now how about a couple of terminator looking photos ..
It always amazes me to see the skeletons on articulated hands .
As you can see the hands skeletons are quite impressive looking and much work goes into making them.

So again we see that many brands are innovating lots of great new things and features into the new dolls and products that are coming out.
So what are my thoughts on this?
Well as a doll photograher I find being able to pose the dolls better and more accurate is always a huge bonus.
But I see more potential with this then just being able to pose the dolls better.
For example how many times have you bumped your dolls hands into a wall or door frame when moving her around the house?
Most dolls hands have stoppers in the fingers that stop the fingers from bending backwards.
This new design would allow the fingers to bend backwards rather then breakage happening.
I am honestly excited to see how other manufactures follow suit here with this kind of technology.
I would assume that other things like anti poke would also be designed into future revisions of this type of hands .
Feel free to tell me what you think about the great new innovations in dolls hands over the last year..
And if you are interested in checking out some of Jiusheng Doll's here is a link to both there Doll Forum and website.

Upward bending!
Wow! I have to say, the ability to bend the doll's fingers upward away from the palm is amazing. I have only one doll with articulated fingers, and while I'm pretty pleased with them, they unfortunately stop at flat. I wish she had just a few degrees more range to achieve that extra elegance!
thanks for the info John!
