" Suckerpunch"

"As Reported by Dollyforme"

I actually like this movie, but do agree that there’s lots to hate in this flick. I didn’t get the plot at all the first time watching it. 2nd time through I got it. I’ve never seen a movie like Sucker Punch before. Here’s the skinny on the movie – Put out by Warner Bros and
Features: Baby Doll (Emily Browning) and Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) as the stars – both of which were fabulous in the flick.

Suckerpunch is written like a comic book and shot like a video game, Sucker Punch may be Hollywood's ultimate "fanboy" flick. Characters follow byzantine missions against faceless villains. The women, as they do in so many superhero tales, lounge in tight blouses and tiny skirts — barely enough upon which to hang their ninja swords.

Though that may delight comic book devotees (and fans of the Japanese animé story Sailor Moon, whose characters bear a striking resemblance to Punch's), it won't do much for fans of, say, narrative, plot or character. All are woefully lacking in this story, written and directed by Snyder, whose last film was the R-rated comic book adaptation Watchmen.

The story, such as it is, centers on Baby Doll (a pursed-lipped Emily Browning), who is institutionalized by her wicked stepfather and hatches a plan to free her fellow patients as well as her active imagination. There are a few star turns here, including Jon Hamm and Carla Gugino as mysterious doctors. But the bulk of the movie rests on the lithe backs of Browning, Abbie Cornish and Jena Malone. Not that they're asked to do much besides look good decaptitating bad guys.

The secret to watching Sucker Punch, is to stop looking for plot or story. Punch is more interested in explosions than exposition. As popcorn action, the film has some effective sequences, especially when our heroes get down to swordplay. Now are scantily clad protagonists the ultimate in film feminism, or the embodiment of nerd sexism? There may not be an answer in Sucker Punch, but die-hard fans will have plenty of eye candy in this movie to watch. See it twice before you decide.

G'day everyone,..

I am going to see this movie soon,...

I think the lead charicter in the advertiseing looks almost like a Boy Toy without the anime eyes.

She seems to have the body.

I'll let you know what I think once I see it.
