Elle under the knife (2nd times)

Body:

Hi guys,

Bad title but good news :)

Elle has a bad hip since 1 year and a few months (model 2006), nothing broken but the hip's joint is detached and the 2 items making the joint were able to disassemble one from the other, so i was careful with Elle.
But 2 days ago, after Elle's photoshoot for Coverdoll march, i noticed her leg was not as usual :? Difficult to explain but it was like if the leg was falling apart. :O

So i decided to keep Elle on the bed, and to plan a surgery, i previously bought 2 steel joints designed by Mechwizard at the end of 2010 ;)

I just want to say a big THANK YOU to those who wrote tutorials explaining the surgery :) !! Elle's surgery has not been longer than one hour (without closing the wound, it will be done tomorrow) because all the explanations found in the previous topics were so helpful ;)
thank you so much, especially Mechwizard of course. Zara, you didn't have so much pain for nothing ;)

the new joint in place

Elle resting, the wound is not longer than 13 centimeters :) The access was not easy but i thank god not having too much big hands ;)

Cheers,
Jihan & Elle

Oh poor Elle having to go through that :( But I'm so happy that the operation went well and she is now recovering.

Thanks so much for documenting this my friend. This will help others in the future that have the same problem. However I now think this has been resolved in later models.

Well done :)

Good to see it went so well Elle, :) Hopefuly this will be the last op you have to have.l:)

Poor Elle. But at least she is all fixed up with such an expert surgeon.

And she makes such a lovely Maid for March and deserves all your massage attentions. Wink

hugs and kisses

Go Elle!

She has my support! Laughing

thanks guys :)

here's the pose which did make the mistake }:) Too much weight on both hips, not serious from me

It's so good to see that Elle is all whole once more.  Taking photos is the most risky venture that a doll can undertake and despite all the care, things can still go wrong.  Glad to be of help though.  Nearly four years now and Zara hasn't had any problems with her replacement hips.

thanks guys :)

just one precision concerning "closing the wound".

i often read to close the wound using 2 pass, first using the RD adhesive (leaving the last centimeter of the wound free of adhesive) and a second pass using the colored & mixed silicone so that the seam is invisible.

but i saw a video from Mc Mullen where he closed a wound in one pass, still using the colored silicone for the last centimeter, and i tried that technique, because it's very difficult to avoid that the RD adhesive doesn't go everywhere when you press the 2 sides of the wound together.

So i did use a lot of RD adhesive inside the wound and immediately pasted the last centimeter with the colored silicone mixture ; then i pressed the wound !

That way the Rd adhesive can't go where it must not, and i must admit that the result is perfect and invisible :)

I waited for 48 hours before moving the doll, just to be sure...

Thanks for the update. Elle seems to have come through it all well. :)  If the closure works as well as anticipated then she'll be as good as new.:)
