CTRC E5 .....already in progress.....

……we join our regularly scheduled program……..already in progress…..

….plain and simply put, you’ll need good nuts if your cookies are to be the talk of the town!  Also sugar!

And with that, I am told we have a caller?!  …Yes!

CTRC:  “ Hi caller.  Happy Holidays!”

caller1:  “Hi Laura.  Happy Holidays to you.”

CTRC:  “You had a question?”

caller1:  “Yes…..is the way to a man’s heart….really thru this stomach?”

CTRC:  “Well……it is one way.  My sister is a doctor, and she once got to a heart with a ten blade”.

It is just bit less dramatic here.  When our batter for this cookie type is done with the mixer, the most time consuming task is to spoon it into little masses on the cookie sheet.

We have another caller?

CTRC:  “Hi caller.  Happy Holidays!”

caller 2:  “Hi Chef.  I just wanted to comment that you have very nice hands.  You handled that chocolate chip cookie dough….shaping it into a log……beautifully!”

CTRC:  “Thank you caller.  I have had lots of practice working logs with my hands. ….and once our logs have chilled a bit…we will finish them off……that is coming up soon!”

Popping these lovlies in the oven…….set timer…….and back to the chip logs we just spoke of…

Forming this dough into logs makes slicing them into cookie size as simple as preparing a morning sausage.  Slice the log into size appropriate pieces.  If you like big cookies….make bigger slices.  If you like smaller cookies….make smaller ones.  Cookie dough is so tempting…you might want to eat part of the log raw!  …..Hey sweeties…….it is the holidays!

Finally, our sugar cookie batch.  No holiday is complete without a bunch of these.  In my opinion, they are the most fun.  Rolling out the dough, and then grab a cookie cutter.  Lay the cufouts on a cookie sheet, collect up the leftover dough, and roll it out again!

Repeat until the cookie dough is all used.

And before you put these in the oven, you can put some decoration sugar on them before hand.  This will bake right into the cookie.  No worries.  You can decorate them more with icing when they are done in the oven.

We have time for one more call.

CTRC:  “Hi caller.  Happy Holidays to you”

caller3:  “Hi Chef Laura.  I noticed you are using a lot of green decoration on your cookies.  Is green your favorite color?”

CTRC:  “Ha ha! Sorry caller……I don’t really have a favorite color, and did not consciously over-use the green.  Perhaps it was sub-conscious….my doctor told me to eat something green everyday!”

That’s it for this month dearies.  Please visit me again next month for more fun in the kitchen (the hottest room in the house).  Keep those cards, letters, and comments coming.  Have a great holiday!  Enjoy the heat……………………mmmmmmm……XO!!!

……..{off air———if they cancel my show, I’m gonna kill my producer/call screener…..just sayin’…}

Hi Chef, happy holidays to you. Don´t worry, your show won´t get canceled, if it would we at TDF would probably all starve. smileyHappy cookie munching! Chris

Hi Laura,

Say, are you sure you got it all on paper here? I have followed your instructions to the letter, but my cookies looked like crap!  I have tried to fix them afterwards with glue and plasticine, but even Koen was not willing to eat them. Sighhh!
