Masai’s blog: August 2021 – SOTC: Timepiece Update

Before we get into it, let’s do a wrist watch check…Lorrie is wearing the Cartier Tank homage, Seiko SUP880, with a 38mm gold plated case, white dial, solar movement and a black leather strap. Now without further ado, let’s jump into the State of the Collection.

The two watches I added to my collection are the Bulova Accu-Swiss 63B185, 25 jewels with a blue dial and blue leather strap, (my 1st Swiss Watch) and an all gold-plated Seiko 5 Automatic SNKK98, 21 jewels. I love the new Bulova Swiss watch, it is so well made and keeps really good time. The quality is impeccable as well as the Panerai homage style design. I actually own 3 Bulova timepieces now and proud of it, they are a well-established company that is committed to hallmarks of excellence. Even though I love the gold Seiko 5 and I wear it when I’m dressed in black, I seem to gravitate to my Swiss timepiece almost every day because it really stands out from all my other watches.

That being said, I actually had the money to plop down for my first Rolex Datejust 36mm 1601 but it was a toss up competing with my front deck re-do upgrade project. The deck won out and I’m super happy because it looks really good. I have my eye on this bad boy and it will probably be my next Swiss purchase…the Frederique Constant, Index Automatic FC-303S6B6, white dial, 26 jewels, silver 43mm case with an exhibition case back. I’ll have to drop $700.00 for it which is really a good price point. I love Frederique Constant timepieces because of their history, dressy designs, quality and they are underrated in my opinion because of the popularity of Rolex, Audemars Piguet and Patek Phillipe. Soon come I’ll pull the trigger on the Constant and add a little more prestige to my ever changing, ever growing luxury watch collection. Nothing but Swiss from here on out.

As my tastes change and I keep buying new watches, unfortunately I have to get rid of some or I should say…put them out to pasture stuck in a drawer. The two watches I discarded in the new purchase melee were the ridiculously over sized Fossil Chronograph FS4795 and a dressy WWoor WR8830M. Both watches have quartz movements. Just as I was about to toss these two watches into the reject drawer, Lorrie reminded me that I was supposed to pass down my collection to her as she builds hers up. Of course, I agreed and she is super happy but she’s always flexing and flossing her jewelry in front of the Twins Alitash. This makes them really mad at me for not paying attention to them like I used to and for not lacing them with Rubies, Emeralds, Diamonds, Sapphires and high end timepieces. I’m sorry Bubbly Babes, I love you like play cousins but I’m broke…

In 6 months Lorrie & I will do another SOTC update, hopefully by then I’ll have my Constant and Tissot, with a Rolex on the docket soon come. We hope you enjoyed our State of the Collection: Timepiece Update, it’s been fun doing the re-shuffle and sharing the experience with you.

Be the best version of yourself and continue to stay safe,
