Meet His Girls

My Dolls:

As always the ladies get together for their Christmas Party. This year is special having a resident elf Melina (Private Island Beauty Girl Next Door, Bitsy Head) handing out some specially made necklaces to Janie (WM161G #53) Jennifer (MLD165F #2) Brittany (WM155DD #46) Quinn (Rifrano 158DD). Santa has other gifts for the others coming. Lisa (WM156C #46) Kat (ASDoll 158, WM #36) and Aliel (Realdoll Boytoy2 Winter Face) Also that is photobombing is Katie (TBleague S38) But they decorated the tree early and were sitting by the virtual yule log just enjoying themselves.

The shoot:

The tree is usually the center point to our Christmas photos. This year compared to last we have 6 more lovelies. So space isn't as free as I'm normally used to, now having 15 full sized dolls. But Melina gave me the idea for the shoot. Santa got them early presents Necklaces with their names. Aliel got one earlier in the year so it was nice to get them for the others so they didn't feel left out.

The Equipment:

NI wanted to try using as much seasonal lighting as I could without using the track lighting or resorting to other artificial lighting. There is a kaleidoscope LED prism light I used and a couple shot I used par38 floods to fill out. The tree is a prelit LED 7.5ft Slim from homedepot. There are LED programable strip lights in the room and in the futon area. Camera is a Nikon D610, Lens used is a Quantaray Tech-10 24mm F2.8. Trying to get decent shots with 100% of your light coming from the sides is always fun. Patience, I like to use Aperture Priority first to see what the camera thinks. I keep the ISO under 400 locked. Then from there I'll go manual and adjust until I'm happy with the image. The Kaleidoscope created a neat effect in some of the photos giving them a blue shadowing.

Note from the Editor: Each month we will feature a different photographer's work. We invite doll owners and manufacturers alike to participate in this new monthly feature. Photo shoots must meet a minimum quality level. If you do not meet that level we are happy to work with you, critique your photos and help you to raise the bar on your photography. Good photo shoots can be had with low cost digital cameras. It is all in the technique.
