Meet Kasumi

The Doll:

Kasumi is a WM159C with head 85. She arrived earlier this year and so has the latest refinements such as Evo skeleton, articulated fingers, gel breasts and even some subtle skin shading. Kasumi is, in essence, a slightly taller twin sister for my other WM 85, Keiko who has been with me since 2017, they complement each other perfectly!

The Shoot:

These pics were taken over the course of a couple of days and were mostly taken in my lounge and conservatory, unfortunately the garden area isn't very hospitable this time of year! I did also take a few shots against a black backdrop but to be honest I thought the ones in the lounge area worked better.

I decided to try Kasumi in a few different outfits so you will see her in a lovely blue summer style dress by River Island, a fetching blue cheongsam and lastly a simple black leather look skirt and plain white top. We also tried 2 different wigs, a long, straight black wig with centre parting and a nice dark, shorter wig with reddish highlights and fringe, which I felt was ultimately a better look for her.

The Gear:

For this shoot I used my trusty old Nikon D3300. I do try and use a tripod, especially when shooting in lower light levels but it's not long before I whip the camera off to get a particular angle I see that might work. The lighting used for these was mainly a pair of Neewer NL660 Bi Colour LED panels along with a single, smaller NL480. I also have a Tolifo MT-60S 60w continuous LED light, currently fitted with a honeycomb snoot that may have been used, although I prefer the warmer tones you get with the Bi Colour LED's. The pics in the conservatory were taken using my Neewer speedlite 750II inside a diffuser.

Several of the images have Kasumi standing, supported by my own DIY stand that, being black, works great against a black backdrop but otherwise has to be concealed by something, like an item of clothing etc.

Thanks again to the Coverdoll team for inviting me back!

Note from the Editor: Each month we will feature a different photographer's work. We invite doll owners and manufacturers alike to participate in this new monthly feature. Photo shoots must meet a minimum quality level. If you do not meet that level we are happy to work with you, critique your photos and help you to raise the bar on your photography. Good photo shoots can be had with low cost digital cameras. It is all in the technique.
