Emily Miku's Introduction: Chapter 1

Body:

Hello,

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Emily Miku, Capt. B’s companion.

I am not terribly sure of what to say here, so I guess I should start with my arrival.

Chapter 1

UPS delivered me Tuesday, August 25th, 2009. After signing for the package, B dragged the box I was in no further than the middle of his living room… maybe ten feet… if that. He seemed genuinely startled to find that I was not the only item in that box when he opened it, but I am the one that got all his attention.

Carefully… almost fearfully, as if he were afraid he’d hurt me, he lifted me, still covered in the bubble wrap, from the box and placed me on a table. He examined me quite closely then got a camera and took almost thirty pictures of me, which he let me see later. As he was taking the pictures, I saw all sorts of swords near the ceiling of the wall ‘above’ my head. That ceiling looked an awfully long ways off. There were some plates and daggers on another wall, but I couldn’t see the plates very clearly although they seemed to have been hung with care. Were they important to him?

Anyway, once he had finished taking pictures, he washed me down with warm water and a really soft cloth. After drying me off, he replaced the bubble wrap, on the table, with this huge white towel, and powdered me. I was a bit surprised at how gentle he was with me, in spite of the fact that he took a few liberties with me. Maybe I shouldn’t have been that surprised since all this was taking place within the first two hours of my arrival. I’m not really sure, but I think he may have even spoken to me a few times, if not verbally, then mentally. The house was very quiet. All I could hear was the hum of computer fans in the background.

He spent a lot of time typing away on his computer, then suddenly appeared with a tailor’s tape measure. Ummm… okay… so now what? Well, he started taking measurements. He measured, literally, every part of my body, inside and out… right down to my fingers. He made so many I lost count after fifty, or so. I don’t think a doctor could have been more thorough.

B dressed me in this pink and white outfit, which I don’t think either of us really liked very much (I learned later that this outfit was his least favorite of those I had arrived with). Then he sat me in a chair in front of a computer (one of two in what he called his office), and told me that this one had belonged to K, his soul mate of ten and a third years. I could tell he missed her more than he could describe. It was at this point I started to understand why I was here. He only took three pictures of me in that chair before he put me in a wheelchair, then he took another dozen pictures. That wheelchair was so much more comfortable. I tried to thank him for that, but I don’t know if it got through.

It was getting late, and since he was unsure of how his roommates would react to me, he wheeled me into his bedroom. He did not close that door all the way, explaining that his bedroom is where his cat, Carme, hides; I thought that leaving the door even slightly open might be a little risky, but B didn’t seem to be overly concerned (another of his facets I would later discover).
