In the 14th and 15th centuries, people gave handwritten notes or small gifts on Valentine's Day as a way of expressing their love and affection for one another. These notes and gifts were called "valentines," and they frequently had hearts, flowers, and other symbols of love on or with them
Valentine's Day is now celebrated in a variety of ways all over the world. It is customary in some countries to exchange cards or gifts with one's partner, especially flowers! People may go out to romantic dinners or go on special dates with their lovers. Some people even marry or get engaged on Valentine's Day because of its romantic and meaningful theme.
