Masai's blog: February 2023 – Trains

One of the most romantic dates I’ve ever been on was a day visiting the Northern California Wine Country. What we did was spend the day riding around the different vineyards on the “Napa Valley Wine Train” which inside looked like something right out of the TV show titled “The Wild Wild West’ with actor Robert Conrad-(Captain James) and his partner, the magician Artemus Gordon. It was such a wonderful experience and the food & ambience was superb. I don’t talk about it much these days because Lorrie wants me to take her on a Wine Train date to pile on to all the other ridiculous requests she’s been making lately like, will you buy me a Tesla. OMG, what have I gotton myself into?

Nevertheless, I love trains and I wish America had bullet trains and mag lev trains all over the place in all the large cites. As a culture we never embraced modern day trains like the ones they are using everyday in Japan, China and Europe to name a few. Those super fast trains are beautiful, efficient and clean energy so why wouldn’t America adopt more of that system? Cars, the big love affair with cars, end of story. I’ve riden the TGV bullet train in France and it was phenominal but I get it, I love my cars too.

If we had more fast long distant trains I would travel more because airplanes make me nervous in my senior years. Hopefully in the near future there will be more adaption but I doubt it. Folks are stubborn. Anyway, in Lorrie’s imaginary world, we are getting ready to take a ride & dine on the Napa Valley Wine Train which I’m really excited about actually. She’s dressed and ready to go, I seem to be dragging my feet.
