Mishka's Studio February 2023

Body:

This month I am featuring NaiMei, a TaYu silicone doll. I have had her for a little over a year, and she's holding up really well, and being so versatile and light, I like to frequenly feature her.

In this photo set, we went outdoors, and dressed her up in a short skirt and black top. Her pink hair gave her that cosplay effect that I like. In many of these photos I used a 35mm lens that I use for many of these sets, and used the lens as a crop lens. On the Sony's you can switch the fullframe 35mm lens over so that it works as a crop sensor lens and the result is a 55mm lens with the same metrics as the 35mm. This has the one side effect of reducing the mpix from 65 to 24, but in my case, I rarely need that much, and crop to suit. On my 85mm lens, this will result in a 135mm.

The depth of field is tricky and requires a wide open setting, but that reduces depth of field too much and softens the image too much. So as a result I use a F2 setting and use the zoom effect as much as I can. Also if the model stands further away from the background, you will blur the image more. Hence, she is 12-16 feet away from the back wall.

More light was added with my Godox strobe, but set at a very low 1/16X power. Usually the area is pretty well lit, so I don't need to increase the ISO, just leave it at 100.

Anyway, enjoy the pics
